All this with a broken air-conditioning system in the middle of a stifling North American summer. It is as much a spiritual journey as it is an adventure, which is what a road trip should be. Ten weeks to travel where we wanted and when we wanted. Nobody knew where we were. Not our parents, not our friends, not the FBI. The sense of freedom was exquisite. It is a trip we each know will never forget – can never forget. Which is why I was compelled to write this book. I remember this trip as if it were yesterday. It’s a story that needs to be told, and hopefully it will enlighten you about aspects of America you didn’t know. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

A truly hysterical account of four foreign student come rascals in an adventure of exploring the American culture with it's kind and hospitable people in the not so techy nineties.I couldn't help but burst out laughing on many occasions. Written with wit and intelligence, with carefully chosen words, sometimes raw and blatant (when appropriate to the behavior) and other times in high brow sophisticated English, entertaining the reader throughout.
Worthy of any a road movie like story it is truly an amazing read for anyone who has been in a similar situation themselves or for anyone who's dreaming of going on a not so planned trip in a foreign country, or perhaps even their own.
As with travel often goes, expect the unexpected, go with the flow and keep enjoying the ride with a big grin on your face welcoming all situations with open arms for it will always make for a better story.... thus the same could be said for this particular travel account.
Scary thing is that I suspect that there is more truth than fiction to this storytelling, which on the other hand makes it even more joyful to read.
Highly recommended.

Great story of a crazy road trip.
A great read filled with sound stories of mischief and adventure! Reminds me of many trips of similar taste and description.
What a great adventure the four Kiwi lads had! Admirable to say the least that their friendship remained constant. If only their families back in NZ knew what they got up to.
